Truly a Romance Language

The Brazilian Language

Let me share a little Brazilian Portuguese history before I get into what makes this unique tongue so romantic. Brazilian Portuguese gets its origins from its European counterpart: European Portuguese of Portugal. The Portuguese first arrived in Brazil back in the 1500's. This began the colonization of Brazil by the Portuguese. But there is more to this story than that. Another language, that played a part, was Tupi or Tuinambá. It was originally spoken by the Indans living on the coast of Brazil. It was taught by the Jesuit Priests. In 1759, the Jesuits were booted out of the country; as result, Brazilians today speak Portuguese.

The Iorubá language, spoken by strivers from the country of Africa, also helped to carve the way for Brazilian Portuguese. In the 1800's, when the king Don João of Portugal arrived in Brazil, Brazilian Portuguese grew closer to its origins in Portugal.

Surreal Pronunciation

I think the sounds of this amazing idiom are quite unique. I am taking about the nasal sounds. The French use a lot of nasal in their native dialects. But this is not French. It has a prominent sound that one must question. Upon hearing, you would think in the difficulties of learning such a surreal nomenclature. The fact of the matter is this. It is NOT an easy language to learn. And for this, I give it my best compliments. One who learns this tongue, with an authenticity in mind, really has earned my respects. The nasal sounds come from deep within. The words come, seemingly, from the heart to form the words. In my mind's eye, I believe this tongue has yet to see its recognition where it belongs.

More Than a Romance Language

Besides the others: French, Spanish, Italian, and Romanian, just to name a few, Portuguese is not just a romance language, it is a form of expression. And this, I think, makes it romantic. It's as if the Portuguese language only exists in its own domain, in its own unique world in a class of its own. It is intriguing beyond imagination. If you desire a little flair of passionate romance during your next dinner date, consider the magic an awe of Brazilian Portuguese.

It takes a lot of practice to master a genuine Brazilian tongue. In some cases, at least in mine, took as long as a few years. But then, perhaps you are quick to learn and comfortable enough in your own shoes - figuratively speaking. That in itself, is another topic for another interesting read. And so I will leave you with that my intellectual friends.
